Computers or laptops come with a single drive usually C drive and that is your hard disk with single partition (in most cases). Second drive or partition is kept reserved for system or contains Windows restore files. Its recommended to create at-least two or more partitions of hard disk so that you may distribute your data in those separate drives according to the data category. For example, keep Windows operating system in C partition, keep work files in partition D and keep entertainment data, music, videos in E partition. If you do not have multiple partitions, its a good idea to ask for help from your geek friend or local computer shop to create partitions of your hard disk. You do not have to re-install operating system to create more partitions in hard disk. Partition software can do it safely. So after having multiple partitions or disks in your computer you can hide any drive if you like. You can do this for security purpose or just for fun. Here is how to do it.

Recently, confidential data from popular photo and video sharing app Snapchat was compromised and was made available online to download freely. Two exploits and Snapchat’s API were published by Australian hackers last week, but were ignored by the Snapchat so here comes the reaction. Anonymous hackers hacked the Snapchat database couple of days back and released the information on a website snapchatdb.info. Snapchatdb.info was suspended due to huge traffic and download requests but the usernames and phone numbers of around 4.6 million Snapchat users were exposed. You can still view the cached version of the website here. Hackers provided a link to download hacked database as SQL dump or CSV file. I rarely shutdown or restart PC unless its really necessary. I have web apps, web browser tabs and software opened most of the time on PC. Restarting PC and then re-opening all those apps seem to be a drag to me. I am sure many Windows users also experience the same. Windows downloads updates from web automatically and then restarts in order to install those updates. That is good and all but for those who use PC excessively, its irritating because they usually keep web browsers tabs and software opened and if Windows restarts, unsaved data can be lost or even you save data, you have to re-open all the web browser tabs and software that you were working with earlier. The solution is to disable that automatic restart function in order to install Windows updates. Windows asks to save your data and close apps before it restarts and you can even chose to stop it from restarting for few more hours, but still PC gets restarted in few cases somehow. Here is how you can disable restarting PC in the process of Windows updates availability.

Why Internet censorship? Many countries block different websites for several reasons. This directly affects education, information flow and sometimes even small businesses. Take an example of YouTube. Users watch tutorial videos on YouTube. Companies and individuals upload and share videos related to their business. Many individuals have started their own video channels to share what they have learned so that others can learn from them which can be any skill or even a tip to speed up computer. Blocking useful and popular websites is not a solution to anything. Its like taking away freedom. Sure, users can find other websites to share their stuff and videos on, but it will take a lot of time for those new websites to be able to fulfill requirements for all the internet community. Even established video communities can not compete with YouTube yet.

Malicious software and viruses run in PC background and they start their own processes which are hard to detect by average PC user. A running program that has active process often can not be removed unless there is a way to kill its process running in system background. These malicious programs also make changes in registry and associate themselves with certain executable files. If you want to remove those viruses, you need a mechanism that stops their background running processes and fix registry. RKill is an antivirus tool that terminates known malware (running) processes so that you can clean PC from infections without interruption. RKill kills malware processes that are running, removes incorrect executable associations and fixes registry policies to make security tools run again which sometimes stop running in case of PC infections.

I shall admit that I was pretty amazed to see Nokia Lumia in hands of Jenifer Lopez in her new video song “Live it Up”. The display of the Windows phone was just stunning in the song where they displayed a bold Windows Phone styled SMS conversation between Jennifer Lopez and her fellow artist Pitbull. This is the most notable example of Windows phone publicity while there are Android based phones and Apple’s iPhone as competitors. Microsoft claims that new Nokia Lumia is better than iPhone and better than Android powered phones. Still in the competition, Windows phones have not lost style and liking among users. Now there are many free and paid security solutions for Android and iPhone, have we any security solution for family and kids on Windows phone?
