Google has taken bold initiatives including self-driving cars and Google Glass. The progress of the company does not stop there but they aim to enhance lives even further at a consistent pace. Google has launched a new company named as ‘Calico’ which aims to extend human life span. This Google initiative was announced in a Time’s cover story. Calico will be run by Arthur Levinson (former CEO of Genentech, an investor and the chairman of Apple). This is a long term project as Larry Page said that it normally takes ten to 20 years to go from an idea to something being real.

After smart phones, wearable smart devices seem inevitable. Google X is creating and testing Google Glass that is a wearable PC and can do almost anything that a smart phone does. It will also free you hands, eyes and ears unlike smart phone. Google have not launched the Glass for public yet, and there are solid news that other companies are in process to launch wearable gadgets in 2014. Apple, Microsoft, Baidu and Samsung are all working on wearable gadgets now. Its a matter of time which one gets more attention.

Google Glass is a project by a separate Google’s facility that is working on future technologies. That same facility is working on “self driving cars”, “augmented reality glasses”, “web of things” and many other futuristic concepts.

Googles glass is a wearable computer with a head mounted display (HMD) that can interact with the Internet via natural language voice commands and displays back relevant information in a hands-free format. It has got the frame like regular glasses but do not currently have lenses fitted to it. Google is considering partnerships with Ray-Ban or Warby Parker for this purpose. Google Glass comes in different editions. The Google Glass Explorer Edition that will work together with frames and lenses that match the wearer’s prescription because It will also be attachable to normal prescription glasses.
