At Worldwide Developers Conference Apple announced the next major release of iOS (iOS 5) for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iOS 5 brings variety of new features. Device support includes iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad 1, iPhone 3GS and the 4th & 3rd-gen iPod touches. Good news is, iPhone 3GS will get the iOS 5 update as well.
With the news of iOS 5 comes a great innovation called OTA (Over The Air). OTA will be the newest method of upgrading the firmware of Apple devices, bringing about 5 main changes to the way we use our iPhones, iPads and iPods including PC free version of iOS, crucial system updates, faster updates, ease in updating iOS, automatically detection of device and version to update iOS.
iOS 4.2.7 is available for CDMA iPhone 4 users on Verizon, with iOS 4.3.2 for GSM iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad, iPod touch 3G/4G. To update to iOS 4.2.7, connect iPhone 4 with your computer via USB and start iTunes. Click on “Download and Install” (Mac OS X) or “Download and Update” (Windows) button at prompt to get the new firmware 4.2.7. The last major update for Verizon iPhone was iOS 4.2.6, released in February 2011.
