The future is here and it’s called the Terrafugia Transition. The flying car has been a lofty ambition for decades and at long last the dream has been realized. No longer is a subject for retro dreams and wistful thinking, the Terrafugia Transition hailed as one of the most innovative inventions in recent years, is almost ready to hit the market.
Developed by Carl Dietrich, the flying car’s development was not all smooth flying. The project hit some turbulence when authorities required some $18 million worth of redesign. The effort was well worth it and earlier this year the US National Highway Safety Administration approved the new vehicle and cleared it for use. It is possible that the US market could see the car on the roads and in the sky by the end of 2012.
