Apple CEO Steve Jobs Resigns – Wednesday August 2011
Steve Jobs, co-founder and CEO of Apple, offered his resignation to the company’s board at Wednesday 24 August 2011.

Steve Jobs said the following in his resignation letter:
“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.”
Steve Jobs has stepped down as Apple CEO and, but will stay on as Chairman of the Board. Steve Jobs was in poor health condition few months back. He took a medical leave in January and remained absent from the company. Then he returned in March to announce the iPad 2.
Steve Jobs advised the board to “execute our succession plan”. He named “Cook” to be his successor. Steve Jobs is not leaving the company. He has been elected chairman of the board, and Cook will be joining the board, effective immediately.
