Remove Search dot us dot com Instant Search and Toolbar from Internet Browsers

Search dot us dot com is a search page that probably got access to your PC when you installed a freeware via any installer from a freeware website. It will add a search box and a search start page in your PC internet explorer, Firefox, Chrome. Anytime when you open new internet browser, start page with ‘start.search.us.com’ will be opened. This is a browser hijacker which will display advertisements and sponsored links in your search results, and may collect search terms from your search queries. Here is how to remove it.

Search.us.com Toolbar – Virus Removal

Open infected internet browser, and after start.search.us.com page opens, look at the links in bottom of page. There will be an uninstall link. Click that and follow instructions there.

This is the prompt that it displays for internet browsers after it gets access to your PC.

Uninstall Search.us.com from Control Panel

Go to control panel of PC and click add or remove programs or programs and features.

You will find this program there. Uninstall it by right clicking and selecting Uninstall/change.

Further more you need to make sure that internet browsers have not this toolbar and homepage is set correctly. If not you need to remove the toolbar and restore homepage settings by using methods below.

Restore Homepage Settings for Internet Explorer

Click at Gear icon at the top right corner. Select ‘internet options’. In General Tab, change homepage address.

Also from Gear icon select Manage add-ons > go to Toolbars and extensions. Make sure its not there. If it is, disable and then remove it from there.

And from Manage add-ons click at search providers and select Google or Bing by right click and make it default.

Restore Homepage Settings for Firefox

At the top of the Firefox window, click the orange Firefox button, then select Add-ons. Select the Extensions tab, then remove Search.us.com Toolbar extension from Mozilla Firefox.

Restore homepage settings for Firefox by going to Tools > Options > General > Homepage. Or simply use SearchReset.

Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar, select Tools and then click on Extensions. In the Extensions tab, remove (click on the Recycle Bin) Search.us.com Toolbar extensions from Google Chrome.

Click the Chrome menu, then select Settings and click on Manage search engines in the Search section. In the Search Engines dialog that appears, select Google and click the Make Default button that appears in the row. Search for Search (search.us.com) in the Search Engines list, and click the X button that appears at the end of the row.

Click the Chrome menu, then select Settings and click on One the ‘New Tab page’ in the On Startup section. From ‘Open a specific page or set of pages’ option, click set pages and remove search.us.com page if its there.

Reset Browser Homepage and Search Engine Settings

You can also use ResetBrowsers.exe to restore homepage and search engine for all internet browsers.
