Need for Speed Rivals – Vehicle Won’t Move – Solution
Many players of Need for Speed Rivals on PlayStation 4 are reporting that they are not able to move their vehicle regardless of what button is pressed either as a cop or racer (specially during tutorial of ‘how to drive’). When user presses R2, the car will not move, if he pushes L2 the reversing lights come on but the car stays still. If you’re unable to get your car moving, simply restart the PS4 and see if the issue is resolved. If not, try the following workaround. Read the whole article before doing anything with your PS4 or the game files.
The issue seems to be with the controller mapping during game install.
Uninstall and Reinstalling Game Data
Delete your Need for Speed Rivals game data by following these steps:
Go to ‘Settings’
Go to ‘System Storage Management’
Go to ‘Applications’
Find ‘Need for Speed Rivals’ and press ‘Options’ button
After deleting Need for Speed Rivals game data, enter the ‘Sony PlayStation Network Store’ and re-download Need for Speed Rivals. Reinstall the fresh copy of NFS Rivals. Start up NFSR again and see if the issue has resolved. This should resolve the issue.
The intro of the game is too long and every time you re-install the game you probably have to watch the full intro again.
If this does not resolve the issue then there is another option. You have to provide EA few information such as:
Product version: Standard or Digital Deluxe
Your PlayStation Network Region
Send this data to EA and they will look into the matter for you and suggest some solution.
Another thought is to get the game with disc and not the digital copy of the game. Users who bought the game with disc had no such problem.
Also the EA staff has clarified later – to delete full game and the patch. Then download the game without the patch and install game and play tutorial. After that download the patch.
Here is a clarification about the workaround for those who are still experiencing this issue. You have to uninstall the game not just the patch but delete the full game. Then re-download the Full Game only and stop the patch from downloading. You must be offline so you can prevent the patch from installing again. Whilst offline; play the tutorial completely. After that, just connect back online in order to download the patch.
Another representative confirmed that:
Please delete and re-download the game, ensuring you have cancelled the patch download and installation. Install the full game whilst offline so you can prevent the patch from installing again. Then play the tutorial completely. After that, just connect back online in order to download the patch.
Deleting just the patch, not the game and completing the tutorial missions and after that, selecting yes when prompted to update, might not work as well.
Another user reported the same solution:
Delete patch update.
Finish tutorials then the patch with automatically download after that.
This is a workaround and it will work. EA will roll out the final solution later.
