IBM Next Five in Five 2010

IBM unveils its fifth annual “Next Five in Five” which is a list of innovations with the potential to change the way people work, live and play over the next five years. The Next Five in Five is based on market and societal trends expected to transform our lives, as well as emerging technologies from IBM’s Labs around the world that can make these innovations possible. IBM predicts that there will be real time 3D video calling very soon. Watch the video.

3D Video Calling

You will communicate with your far away friends and family in 3D environment. Texting, voice calls and Video calling will be history. 3D holograms will enable you to see your friends in real 3D environment. You will be able to work face to face with colleagues who are in a different part of the world.

More Powerful Batteries

Batteries will take oxygen from air to energize our devices. Batteries will last 10 times longer than now. Batteries will be replaced in few devices and static or kinetic energy will be used instead of batteries in devices.

Recycling of Data Centers Heat Energy

Computers will help energize your city. Energy produced in data centers around the world will be recycled for city use.


Commute will be personalized using GPS systems.
