How to Browse Firefox Cache Directories

We know where is cache or history folder for IE located. When we need to copy any streaming media file or any other, which is usually get stored in cache folder while we visited that online, we can get that from there. What about Mozilla firefox cache folder?

Open a new tab window of Firefox and enter about:cache as an URL.
Take note of the Firefox cache folder path specified in Cache Directory: and browse to this folder with Windows Explorer.
For example consider following paths:

C:\Documents and Settings\pc-user-name\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\tg397oja.default\Cache
C:\Documents and Settings\pc-user-name\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\tg397oja.default\OfflineCache

These paths will store cache for the Firefox. Where ‘pc-user-name’ in above URL is your computer user name. Easy way to get any file is to search through cache.

  • Press CTRL + F to search.
  • Type name of file and hit enter.
  • Right-click the selected file in result of search, if its the desired file and select the ‘Open Link In New Tab’

You can set the desired storage size fro cache for firefox by following method:
To set Firefox cache folder maximum storage size,
Click Tools -> Option -> Advanced -> Network
Determine in Offline storage that how much in MBs you want to be stored at local drive.
