Enable Registry Editor, Task Manager and Folder Options – Registry Hack
Some viruses can disable computer registry editor, task manager and folder options (e.g. Brontok worm). There are many tools available to restore system settings back to normal you can use but how about DIY using a script. Following is a little registry hack script which should enable registry editor, task manager and folder options if they are disabled by some virus.
How to Use
Extract the archive
Run restore_settings.reg once
Confirm the registry changes
That should fix the problem
Here is what this script file contains for registry.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL] "CheckedValue"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NofolderOptions"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "DisableTaskMgr"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] "DisableRegistryTools"=dword:00000000
