Apple iPhone 4 Glitch – Antena Reception Issue

iphone antena issue

iPhone 4 has some reception issues when held a certain way, particularly when your fingers touch its lower-right side. Most smartphones have similar reception issues. The iPhone 4 is worse than both the iPhone 3GS and the Nexus One in this regard. When you cover the lower-right side of iPhone 4 with your finger, especially if you clutch the area tightly, signal strength will drop at considerable amount.

iPhone 4’s external antenna works great, much better than the antenna on the iPhone 3GS. Although the signal drops, which users will notice by looking at the signal bars, in many situations it won’t result in degraded performance. Using a bumper case with your iPhone 4 almost fully alleviate the issue. Check out the in-depth analysis by anandtech.

Apple has officially admitted that the issue exists, promising a software fix in a couple of weeks. Apple claims that it has mistakenly calculated the formula which displays signal bars on the iPhone, and therefore the iPhone has been showing too many bars in areas with weak signal strength.

Users observing a drop of several bars when they grip their iPhone in a certain way are most likely in an area with very weak signal strength, but they don’t know it because we are erroneously displaying 4 or 5 bars. Their big drop in bars is because their high bars were never real in the first place.

This seems like Apple is only acknowledging one part of the problem. Anandtech’s in-depth analysis showed that the signal drop when you grip the iPhone 4 by its lower-right side is very real. Therefore, Apple’s fix probably won’t fix that part, and will merely make the iPhone 4 display fewer bars in weak signal areas. Apple claims the miscalculation was present “since the original iPhone,” so the fix will apply to older generation iPhones as well.

We think that the iPhone 4 was launched before it was supposed to be coming live, because it was leaked. Regarding this fact, some issues were supposed to be happening.

Here are some funny ways to fix the iPhone 4 reception problem including changing your grip, using Scotch Tape, carrying case, using tin foil, using steel bowl, hiring a child to hand deliver messages and more…
